Dr. Baile joined the MetaMorphix® Board of Directors in 1998. He is currently the Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in Agricultural Biotechnology at the University of Georgia. Dr. Baile previously served as Director of Research and Devel­opment for Monsanto’s Animal Health Division, overseeing a research staff of 375 with an annual research budget exceeding $40 million. Dr. Baile is credited with launching in Mon­santo’s genetic engineering research programs in the 1980s; during his tenure, Bovine Somato­tropin (BST) was developed and commercialized. Dr. Baile has held senior research positions with SmithKline Beecham’s Animal Health Products Group and served on the faculties of Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. He received a Ph.D. in Nutrition from the University of Missouri and conducted post­doctoral studies at Harvard University.
